The second Nordic PhD Summit “Think Open” was held in Helsinki on August 23 and 24, 2018. Students, researchers, and administrators from 15 graduate schools were welcomed by former President of Finland Tarja Halonen, presented their work, met their colleagues, and made new friends! 


Congratulations to Ali Benkherouf from the University of Turku for winning the best poster prize, and to Susanna Botticelli from Aarhus University for the best student talk. A big thank you to everyone who attended and to the organizers who made it happen.

The scientific programme will be held at the main building of the University of Helsinki.

The registration desk will be set at the 2nd floor lobby.  

The lecture hall (Pieni juhlasali) is located at the 4th floor.

Historical background: The main building of the University of Helsinki was designed by the architect Carl Ludvig Engel and the building was completed in 1832. The historical buildings of the city centre campus have central location and they reflect the architectural taste of the city of Helsinki. The Campus is reaching out to the historical heart of Helsinki, Senate Square, and Kruununhaka city district, and many other lively neighbourhoods.

The Dinner

The dinner and the evening programme will be held in the iconic Vanha Ylioppilastalo (Old Student House) at Mannerheimintie 3, a short walk away from the University main building. 

Dress code: informal ;)
